Park Bo-gum Reveals On-Set Injury That Halted “Good Boy” Filming: “Sorry and Grateful to the Team”

On May 29, the cast and crew of Good Boy gathered at The Link Seoul Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Guro for a press conference ahead of the show’s premiere.

Park Bo Gum was joined by co-stars Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, Tae Won-seok, and director Shim Na-yeon to discuss their journey in bringing the action-packed series to life.
Park, who plays Yoon Dong-joo, a former Olympic boxing gold medalist turned rookie cop, revealed that he had suffered a minor injury on set due to the physically demanding action sequences.

“This was my first time trying this genre after the military. Action is something I’ve always wanted to do. Playing Yoon Dong-joo was physically demanding, but never mentally draining,” he said.
“I really wanted to do well and hoped the trainers would see me as a real athlete. I even went in early to train with the others. We all worked equally hard for over six months. But I pushed myself too hard and ended up with an injury that delayed filming.”

Despite the setback, Park emphasized the unwavering support of the production team.
“Everyone, from the director to the staff, told me to rest, eat well, and focus on recovering. Thanks to them, I was able to return to filming in just a month and a half.”
He added, with sincerity:
“I felt sorry, but I also ran full speed ahead without missing a day after returning. I’m incredibly grateful and apologetic to the team. This experience will stay with me for a long time, and I believe that sincerity will come through on screen.”

Adding levity to the moment, Oh Jung-se, who plays the villain in Good Boy, joked:
“As the villain, I was a bit uncomfortable because he came back from his break even stronger than before,” prompting laughter from the audience.
Good Boy follows a unique team of former elite athletes who join the police through a special recruitment program. Trading medals for badges, they fight against corruption and injustice in a gripping blend of action, comedy, and youth drama.

The show premieres on May 31 at 10:40 PM KST on JTBC, with global availability through Amazon Prime Video.
